A group of smiling volunteers pose for a selfie, waving, at an indoor event.

Every year, volunteers prove essential to the success of the IFLA World Library and Information Congress. The 2027 London edition will be no different.

By welcoming thousands of participants from over 100 countries, volunteers are part of the complex but well-oiled machine that creates a hospitable and inclusive environment for delegates while supporting the professional operation of the Congress. It is a chance to observe the conference from a different angle, up close and behind the scenes, while also creating life-long friendships and memories.

If you have never attended a WLIC, volunteering can be your entry point to international librarianship and the world of IFLA.

WLIC 2027 is also a tremendous opportunity for local librarians to attend this global conference and experience all it has to offer through volunteering. Volunteers receive complimentary registration for the Congress and work half days to support participants. Their free time can be spent attending sessions, exploring the exhibition or taking part in other activities going on.

There are also opportunities for a smaller number of international volunteers to be appointed.
